Hello! I really fell out of the writing game, but I’m back! I’d love to be doing so many things with my blog, but I’m just not in that season right now. I tried to do that a few years ago and I got burnt out. Being a mom will always come first and I know as the years go on I’ll have more time to devote to this space. I keep thinking I should hire someone to help me, but I haven’t taken the plunge yet.

I’m running on very little sleep as Lucy woke up at 2 AM and Troster brought her in our bed… then Caroline followed a little while later. Lucy has decided she is done taking a nap and will literally climb out of her crib and say “I’m not napping today.” Then when bedtime rolls around she’s overtired. It’s been a fun few weeks. All of that to say, we need to switch up bedtime for the summer.

There’s four more days of school left for us. I really can’t believe it. I feel like it was just March. We have some big changes ahead for our family. Caroline is headed off to a new school, which is exciting and bittersweet at the same time. We will be at three different schools come August and I’m just glad they are all near each other.

I’m trying to prepare myself to get into summer mode and I really want to just let go/relax. I didn’t sign the kids up for too many camps. I went a little camp crazy last summer and spent too much time driving. I really want to embrace the slow days with my kids while they are still young and have fun too. Don’t get me wrong, my type A self will still have some routine. I’m planning on working out early during the week for my sanity and quiet time in the afternoons when we are home.

We have some trips planned this summer that I can’t wait for. Troster and I are going to the Virgin Islands and staying at Lovango early next month to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and his 40th birthday. I’m so excited for some time away together. I’ll be working with Lovango some while we are visiting, so I’ll be sharing all about their resort when we get back.

In July, we will be going on our annual trip to Upstate New York to visit my family and then headed back to Vermont/Maine. We will be away for 3 weeks, which feels like forever, but I can’t wait to be up North and spend time with family. It always goes way too fast. Last year, I said I’d write an entire blog post about our summer up there and that obviously didn’t happen. I’m planning on doing it this summer!
Okay, let’s talk our menu for this week. You know I like to keep it simple and this week is just that. On Monday nights, Troster and I usually have date night, so I prep something ahead of time like my recipe for shredded lemon chicken.
M: Pasta & Shredded Lemon Chicken with Roasted Broccoli
T: Taco Bowls
W: Spaghetti with Pork Sausage & Roasted Artichokes/Broccoli on the side.
Th: Leftovers
F: Pizza Night
S: Grilled Flank Steak with Roasted Potatoes & Kale Salad from the garden
