Sunday Happy From Maine

Hello, from Maine! As I’m writing this tonight, I’m currently drinking my tea with the windows open, listening to the rain, while everyone else is asleep. I had one goal for this long trip away and that was to relax. I know, kind of laughable with three kids in tow, but parts of it have been relaxing. T and I have had a few moments already when we just look at one another and are like, “what were we thinking,” but then we will have these really sweet moments where it is all worth it. Sometimes, we forget that we have three kids, one being a one year old, and we pack too much into the day. We try to stick to just two big activities during the day, with an afternoon rest at our place before dinner.

Speaking of food, we rented a house, so we’ve been making a few meals here. One of my go-to meals to make when traveling is pesto pasta with a veggie/fruit. You can always find good pasta and pesto sauce when traveling. One night, we also made grilled chicken and corn, which was simple and delicious. Tonight though, we went to Long Grain in Camden for the second night in a row; it was that good. It’s hard for me to eat out at Asian restaurants because they use fish and oyster sauce in a lot of their sauces/marinades, but Long Grain had so many options for me to pick from. It’s actually been fine going to restaurants here with my shellfish allergy.

Also, what a treat it was for us to go to Buttermilk Kitchen here in Camden. I just think it is so neat that Suzanne, the owner of Buttermilk followed her dream, took a huge risk and moved up here to Maine from Atlanta. It was just as delicious as the Buttermilk Kitchen in Atlanta. We’ve had so many other tasty things to eat here in Maine and I’ll be writing up a full post soon.

We’ve been enjoying so much time outside from visiting the rocky beaches to going on hikes. We’ve lucked out with the weather and I am so happy to have escaped the heat in Atlanta. We are here for a few more days before we make our way to Vermont. – Ash
